An introduction to working with groups
November 9 @ 10:00 am - November 10 @ 5:00 pm£190
This 2 day workshop will offer an introduction to the theory and practice of working with groups. Our aim is to support your awareness of the particularities of working with groups, and to deepen your theoretical knowledge and experiential capacity as facilitators. Our lens will be on groups that are broadly therapeutic in nature; for example therapy groups, personal development groups and support groups.
The workshop will be informed by Gestalt therapy theory and practice and will offer an opportunity to consider:
- The role of facilitator
- Group dynamics
- The context of group work
- Stages of group development
- Different levels of interventions in groups
We will provide a mix of theory, creative experiments and skills based practice; and will also have some time for unstructured and emergent group process. Learning will be interactive, collaborative and experiential, and will offer an opportunity for participants to engage in some personal development work within a Gestalt group format.
This workshop will be of interest to those already facilitating groups as well as those with limited or no experience of facilitating groups.
It is suitable for all practitioners including counsellors, psychotherapists and trainees, coaches, social workers, people working in the voluntary sector, mental health and other helping professions.
